Rakuten to Reduce Monthly Charge Limit from Rakuten Edy to Rakuten Cash to 10,000 Yen in August 2026

Monthly Charge Limit Reduced from 100,000 Yen to 10,000 Yen

Rakuten has announced an upcoming change to the monthly limit for charging “Rakuten Cash” using “Rakuten Edy” balances. Along with this adjustment, a portion of the Rakuten Cash Membership Terms of Service will be revised.

The total monthly charge limit calculated from the first to the last day of each month will be modified as follows:

• Before Change: 100,000 yen
• After Change: 10,000 yen

Effective from August 1, 2026

The new limit will apply to all charges made on or after August 1, 2026. Rakuten noted that there will be no changes to the usage of previously charged balances or the standard payment functionalities of Rakuten Edy.
