SIGMA Unveils Ultra-Compact 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS Lens for APS-C Mirrorless Cameras

SIGMA Corporation announced the SIGMA 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary, a fast telephoto zoom lens engineered specifically for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Scheduled for release on October 22, 2026, the lens will be available in Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X Mount, and Canon RF Mount at an open retail price, with SIGMA’s official online store listing it at 126,500 yen including tax.

Fast Telephoto Reach in a 390-Gram Palm-Sized Body

The lens provides a versatile 75-180mm equivalent focal range in 35mm terms (approximately 80-192mm on Canon RF mount) with an uninterrupted maximum aperture of F2.8. Despite offering telephoto reach and optical stabilization, the lens measures just 99mm in length, weighs 390 grams (Sony E-mount version), and uses a 55mm front filter thread.

With this release, SIGMA completes its portable trio of F2.8 constant zooms for APS-C systems, joining the 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN and 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN. All three lenses combined weigh under 1 kilogram, giving photographers a comprehensive ultra-wide to telephoto kit that fits inside small shoulder bags.

Refined Optics with Suppressed Focus Breathing

The optical construction comprises 18 elements in 13 groups, incorporating one FLD element, three SLD elements, and four aspherical glass elements to correct chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range. In addition to delivering high contrast from center to corner, the optical design minimizes focus breathing, preventing distracting frame shifts when pulling focus during video capture.

Fast HLA Autofocus and Up to 6.5 Stops of Optical Stabilization

Autofocus relies on SIGMA’s High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) motor for rapid, precise, and virtually silent subject tracking. The integrated optical stabilization system, powered by the OS2 algorithm, delivers compensation of up to 6.5 stops at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end under CIPA standards.

The barrel eliminates external toggle switches such as AF/MF and OS selectors in favor of a clean, minimalist design that reduces unintentional setting changes. A dust- and splash-resistant structure protects key joints, while a water- and oil-repellent coating covers the front element to ease maintenance in challenging outdoor environments.
