ANA Revises Super Flyers Card Changes, Granting Conditional Lounge Access Below 3 Million Yen Spend
All Nippon Airways (ANA) unveiled a revised framework for its Super Flyers Card (SFC) status program on September 29, 2026. The airline rolled back a controversial policy announced in April that would have entirely stripped airport lounge privileges from members spending under 3 million yen annually on ANA Card and ANA Pay. The updated regulations will take effect on April 1, 2028.
3-Million-Yen Spending Threshold Retained with Eased Lounge Restrictions
Under the updated rules, the two-tier structure based on annual card spending remains intact. Cardholders spending 3 million yen or more per qualifying year will be classified as “SFC PLUS,” while those spending less will hold “SFC LITE” status. The initial qualifying tracking period will run from December 16, 2026, to December 15, 2027.
While the original April proposal completely excluded SFC LITE holders from ANA Lounges, the new policy allows domestic lounge access during non-peak hours. ANA plans to manage lounge entry using congestion prediction models and will launch an advance online reservation system during fiscal 2027. Members without reservations will still be admitted on departure day if space permits.
For international flights operated by the ANA Group, SFC LITE members will retain access to ANA-operated lounges at Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, and Honolulu. However, partner airline lounges outside these locations will remain off-limits.
Downgrade to Star Alliance Silver Confirmed
While lounge access within the ANA network saw substantial concessions, partner alliance privileges will be curtailed as originally planned. SFC PLUS members will keep Star Alliance Gold status, whereas SFC LITE members will move to Star Alliance Silver.
Consequently, SFC LITE members flying with Star Alliance partner carriers—such as United Airlines or Lufthansa—will no longer receive alliance-wide lounge access, priority check-in, priority boarding, or priority baggage delivery. On ANA Group-operated flights, however, primary benefits including priority security lanes, priority check-in, priority boarding, and baggage priority will continue for both tiers.
- SFC PLUS (3 Million Yen or More Spend): Full ANA Lounge access, Star Alliance Gold status, and an annual 5,000-mile bonus.
- SFC LITE (Under 3 Million Yen Spend): Conditional domestic ANA Lounge access (excluding peak congestion periods; advance booking system planned), international access to ANA lounges at Haneda, Narita, and Honolulu, and Star Alliance Silver status.
- Million Miler Exemption: Members who reach 1 million ANA Lifetime Miles on ANA Group flights receive SFC PLUS status regardless of spending volume (the 5,000-mile bonus still requires 3 million yen in spend).
Facility Expansions Target Growing Congestion
ANA stated that total SFC membership reached approximately 1.5 times its 2019 level by 2026, leading to persistent overcrowding and entry waitlists at key airport hubs. Concurrently, internal figures showed that around 40 percent of SFC holders charged less than 1 million yen annually, and nearly 30 percent spent under 500,000 yen.
To address capacity constraints alongside the revised access policy, the carrier plans to physically expand its domestic ANA Lounges at Tokyo Haneda Airport during fiscal 2027.
